Apple has just updated its list of vintage and obsolete products, adding the final model of the beloved 12-inch MacBook to the “obsolete” list alongside two other products. All 12-inch MacBook models are now obsolete, as iPad 6 and BeatsX join list too Today Apple marked three additional products as “obsolete” on its website. The company keeps a public list of vintage and obsolete products here. It’s regularly updated with new additions based on how long ago a product stopped being available for purchase. Essentially, if a product stopped being on sale from Apple 5 or more years ago, it’s considered “vintage.” This means Apple will still service the product, but parts availability may be limited. If a product stopped being sold 7 or more years ago, it’s marked “obsolete.” Obsolete products are no longer eligible for repairs or any other servicing from Apple. The latest obsolete products include: MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017) iPad (6th generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular models BeatsX in a variety of colors, including Burned Red, Defiant Black-Red, Deep Black, Pure White, and Sky Blue If you own any of these products, Apple will no longer be able to service them. The most notable addition is the MacBook, as the 2017 model is the last one Apple produced before the line was discontinued. The 2015 and 2016 models were already on the obsolete list. While the 12-inch MacBook was pitched by Apple as a type of MacBook Air successor, it never took off with consumers despite having a loyal base of fans who loved it.
