Apple is rolling out RC (release candidate) versions of its next wave of software updates, including iPadOS 26.6, watchOS 26.6, and more. Here’s what to expect. RC builds signal Apple’s 26.6 updates are about to launch Apple’s major new software versions like iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and more are set for fall releases. But much sooner than that, there’s another round of updates coming for the current ‘OS 26’ cycle. iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, macOS 26.6, and more will launch very soon. And today, the RC versions of these updates arrived. Apple has shipped RC (release candidate) versions of its whole lineup of forthcoming 26.6 updates, including iPadOS 26.6, watchOS 26.6, tvOS 26.6, and more. RC versions come at the end of a beta testing period. They’re intended to match the exact software builds that launch shortly afterward to the public. It’s not unusual, however, for Apple to discover additional bugs that lead to revised RC versions debuting with last-minute fixes. In any case, now that Apple has RC versions of its 26.6 updates ready, we should see those new releases launch in roughly the next week or so. So far in the beta cycle, these updates seem focused largely on under-the-hood improvements rather than new features. But we’ll keep you posted if that changes.
