Antipolo Diocese to build retirement home for elderly, retired priests

INQUIRER FILES LUCENA CITY — Elderly and retired priests of the Diocese of Antipolo will soon have a home where they can receive care after decades of serving their communities. Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Cruz Santos invited the faithful to witness the groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 12 for the “Residencia Sacerdotal Obispado de Antipolo,” a retirement home for priests “who have devoted their lives to serving the Church and their communities.” READ: Retirement should be what you want it to be – InLife Article continues after this advertisement “For decades, our priests have stood beside us in every season of life. They baptized our children, blessed our homes, comforted us in sickness, guided us in confusion, and prayed for us in silence,” Santos said in an invitational message posted on the diocese’s official Facebook page. The bishop did not provide details of how the planned Residencia Sacerdotal would look like, saying instead that it would be “a home of rest, dignity, and fraternity,” where elderly and retired priests would continue their ministry at a gentler pace. “It is our promise that no priest will grow old alone, and no priest will be forgotten,” Santos said.
