Anthropic merges Claude Cowork and chat into one, singular Claude

Claude Docs, Slides, and Design integrate into chats, so casual prompts become ready docs and decks. Before today, Claude had two modes: regular chat and Claude Cowork. If chat mode was like talking to your colleagues around the water bubbler, Cowork was where you actually got work done. Now, Anthropic has announced it's bringing both modes into one, meaning Claude can decide which mode is best for your use case. It essentially means that there will be no more toggle to swap between chatty Claude and the productivity Claude; you enter everything into one box, and it does the rest. Here's the example Anthropic gave in its blog post for how this combo works: A weekly report is due at noon. Before you head out, you ask Claude what moved in the pipeline last week, then add: “Write it the way we always do, flag anything that slipped, and put the highlights in five slides for the leadership meeting.” If something’s unclear, Claude asks. You can check progress from your phone on the way to the office. By the time you’re at your desk, the report is waiting as a doc with notes from your teammate, and the slides are ready to open, adjust, and download as PowerPoint. To go hand-in-hand with this new productivity booster, Anthropic also announced Claude Docs and Claude Slides in the blog post, which seem to be Anthropic versions of Google's Docs and Slides. Plus, Claude Design now works within your conversations. Combined, this means your idle chats with Claude can turn into real, tangible results while you're away from the PC, and anything it makes in its own suite can be shared with a link. Very handy. It's rolling out to Claude Pro and Max subscribers right now, and it should appear automatically without needing to toggle anything.
