Annamayya district approves ₹2 crore for 90 drinking water projects

The Annamayya district administration cleared 90 projects estimated at ₹2 crore to address the drinking water shortage issue, including new borewells, pumps, and pipelines, Minister of Transport, Sports, and Youth Services Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy told the media in Madanapalle on Monday (September 7, 2026).The Minister said that the works would be taken up across six mandals, Chinnamandem, Galiveedu, Lakkireddipalli, Ramapuram, Rayachoti, and Sambepalli, due to the declining groundwater levels in several rural areas.Galiveedu has been allocated 20 works costing ₹44 lakh, Lakkireddipalli has 21 works estimated at ₹44.60 lakh, Ramapuram has 19 works costing ₹47.30 lakh, Sambepalli has 17 works at ₹36.30 lakh, Chinnamandem has six works at ₹11.60 lakh, and Rayachoti has seven works at ₹16.10 lakh.Mr. Ramaprasad Reddy said that the projects include drilling new borewells, installing motors, strengthening existing drinking water schemes, replacing damaged equipment and laying pumps and pipelines. Works in Kondavandlapalli-Chittluru gram panchayat and Vandadi areas of Ramapuram mandal had already commenced.He said that he had urged District Collector Nishanth Kumar to sanction works using DMF (District Mineral Foundation) Trust funds or other available grants to address drinking water problems in the constituency.
