Anna Hazare hospitalised due to severe dehydration and viral infection

File picture | Photo Credit: PTI Social activist Anna Hazare was admitted to Bombay Hospital on Monday night (August 31, 2026) due to severe dehydration and viral infection.“He is stable and under investigation. He has been admitted to a ward, not in the ICU. Further tests will be conducted on Tuesday,” Dr Gautam Bhansali from Bombay Hospital told The Hindu late night on Monday (August 31, 2026).He said that Anna was having trouble passing urine due to severe dehydration, but that he had recovered on that count within a few hours after admission.“He had come for a regular check-up. He is under investigation. There is some viral infection. There is nothing related to kidneys,” he said further. He added that Anna was given a good amount of fluids after admission. “Due to that, he is passing a good amount of urine now,” he said.Sources close to Anna Hazare said that he was admitted to a hospital in Shirur for five days as he was not eating much due to ill health. “He had a urinary infection. But he is better since he was brought to Bombay Hospital. He is speaking well now,” Anna’s associate told The Hindu.Anna Hazare is 89 years old.
