FORMER Premier League star Andy Carroll’s once-pristine football pitch looks completely overgrown and his Essex mansion’s swimming pool in a state of neglect. The pitch and dugouts – overgrown with weeds – were once the pride and joy of previous owner Sir Rod Stewart who allowed then manager Gordon Strachan’s Celtic to train there before a friendly match against Fulham in 2005. Ex-Liverpool and Newcastle striker Carroll, 37, bought the Grade II-listed Jacobean mansion from Sir Rod in 2019 for £4.1million. But he put the house and 25-acre estate up for sale last year following his split from wife and former TOWIE star Billi Mucklow. The asking price was initially £8.5million before being reduced earlier this year to £7.5million. A source said: “Rod would be disappointed in the way the once-loved, preened and immaculate football pitch has been left in a state of neglect.
