But 73,000 have simply been dumped in HMO properties in local communities. There are even disturbing reports that Brit renters are being turfed out of flats by unscrupulous landlords wanting to turn their blocks into HMOs to get guaranteed Government cash. Worse, 17,500 foreign criminals are free on our streets and have still not been deported. Frightened families are bearing this enormous risk. Just this week a Sudanese migrant was found guilty of slashing a woman 30 times with a broken bottle. We don’t even know the true scale of crime committed by small boat migrants. That’s because Labour has launched legal action to keep it a secret. Among those fighting Government lawyers in court are Ann Newman, the partner of dog-walker Wayne Broadhurst — killed by an Afghan national — and the family of Rhiannon Whyte, a hotel worker stabbed to death by a Sudanese migrant. Real people who have paid a terrible price for Government failure. Yet still the boats come, with another five containing hundreds of illegals landing yesterday. Why wouldn’t migrants chance it when they know if they can get to the UK they will almost certainly stay? Andy Burnham repeatedly claims he wants to be honest with the people. The Prime Minister could start by being straight about where asylum seekers are being housed. Then do voters a favour by revealing the true scale of the illegal migrant crimewave ruining British lives. Lost generation PAT McFadden might be the only Labour minister to speak the truth on benefits. Yesterday, he admitted the welfare system was “flawed” for writing off people’s chances of ever working. That includes nearly one million youths not in work, education or training. Having diagnosed the problem, McFadden now needs to persuade our new Prime Minister to actually get on and urgently do something about it.
