The roller initially trapped the ex-Premier League star’s left foot before rolling over his lower body, as the driver quickly jumped out to stop the vehicle. His teammates watched on in shock as Townsend attempted to push the machine off his body. Fortunately, the 13-cap England winger escaped with just a few scratches as he featured as a second-half sub in a 3-0 win. Townsend addressed the situation on his Instagram Story, sharing his previous video with the caption: “Turns out Stoke away wasn’t so bad after all.” The England international also shared the video of his vehicular run-in, joking that it was related to his unorthodox dietary preferences.
