Samsung and Google have been working together on Android XR glasses for quite some time now. At the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series launch earlier this year, Samsung announced that its Android XR-powered smart glasses would be available later this year. The company also revealed that it's developing the glasses in collaboration with eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, but didn't share an exact launch date or other availability details at the time. Since then, we've seen a massive leak revealing several designs and styles of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy smart glasses. And now, we're finally getting more details about when they'll be available to purchase. As spotted by 9to5Google, Warby Parker confirmed during its latest quarterly earnings call that pre-orders for its first Android XR smart glasses, officially called "Intelligent Eyewear," will begin on November 12. The company's co-founder and co-CEO, Dave Gilboa, also confirmed that customers can expect to receive their orders during the holiday season, although an exact shipping date hasn't been announced yet. For now, there's no word on when Gentle Monster's version of the Android XR smart glasses will become available for pre-order. However, considering both brands are working with Samsung and Google on the same platform, there's a chance we could see them launch around a similar time. Samsung's Android XR glasses open for pre-order on November 12 For those unfamiliar, Samsung's upcoming smart glasses will run on Google's Android XR platform and use Qualcomm hardware. Unlike the Galaxy XR headset, however, these glasses won't feature a built-in display. Instead, they'll be more similar to Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, with reports suggesting Samsung is working on two variants: one with a built-in camera and another without. Both versions are expected to feature built-in speakers for audio output, and microphones for voice commands and calls. The camera-equipped model is also expected to feature an LED indicator to let people around you know when it is recording. It's a pretty exciting development, especially considering these will be among the first Android XR-powered smart glasses to hit the market. They'll also give Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses some much-needed competition. There's still no official word on pricing, though Samsung has previously suggested the glasses will fall into a "reasonably premium" price range. Initial availability is also expected to be limited to the US and South Korea, at least during the first phase of the rollout. Thankfully, with pre-orders for Warby Parker's Intelligent Eyewear beginning on November 12, we shouldn't have to wait much longer to find out how much Samsung's first Android XR smart glasses will actually cost.
