Andrew Miller reflects on Guardians’ incredible 2016 World Series run

The Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians) were defeated in the 2016 World Series. It was an incredible series that saw the Chicago Cubs win in seven games. One pitcher who made a tremendous impact for Cleveland was reliever Andrew Miller.Miller, who retired after the 2021 season, was traded from the New York Yankees to Cleveland during the 2016 campaign. He was incredible all season long and even finished ninth in American League Cy Young voting despite not being a starter or a closer. In the postseason, Miller pitched to a 1.40 ERA in 10 outings.The former left-handed pitcher recently spoke to reporters and addressed the Guardians' 2016 run, via Mason Horodyski.“I think immediately,” Miller said of when he knew how special Cleveland could be in 2016. “I think the way that they accepted me with open arms and made me feel like part of the team right out of the gate made the transition really easy which isn't always the case when you get traded mid-season. Having Tito (Terry Francona) was a big help because I had him in Boston, so I had some familiarity with him.”Andrew Miller would pitch in Cleveland from 2016-2018. He was one of the best relievers in the entire sport in 2016 and 2017.
