Andhra Pradesh steps up solar power generation with 1,162.80 MW capacity

Vijayanand | Photo Credit: Representational image Andhra Pradesh has taken up 1,162.80 MW of feeder-level solarisation capacity through 228 solar power plants across the State under Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM).The State has set a target of commissioning 109.70 MW during September and October 2026 to augment renewable power generation and improve the availability of reliable daytime power to agricultural feeders, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand said at a review meeting on PM-KUSUM projects.He said land acquisition had been completed for all 228 feeder-level solar plants and directed officials to closely monitor civil works, equipment procurement, financial closure and statutory documentation for each project. Issues affecting implementation should be identified and resolved at the initial stage to avoid delays in commissioning, he said.Mr. Vijayanand said feeder-level solarisation would strengthen the renewable power generation base while substantially improving the availability of quality and reliable daytime power to agricultural feeders. He directed the DISCOMs and developers to accord priority to the programme and resolve project-related issues at the field level.DISCOM CMDs L. Siva Sankar, I. Prudhvi Tej and P.
