Anders Dreyer's PK pulls Minnesota even with San Diego

Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images Anders Dreyer converted a penalty kick to equalize in the 64th minute and CJ dos Santos made seven saves as San Diego FC rallied for a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United on Saturday night in Saint Paul, Minn. Tomas Chancalay scored for Minnesota United (6-6-6, 24 points), which saw its winless streak extended to seven (0-3-4). Drake Callendar finished with one save for the Loons. Minnesota, which had scored a total of three goals in its previous five games, wasted no time scoring, taking a 1-0 lead in the third minute. Wil Trapp hit Chancalay with a through pass into the middle of the box after a San Diego turnover and Chancalay drilled a right-footed shot inside the left post for his second goal. San Diego (5-7-6, 21 points) nearly tied it four minutes later but Marcus Ingvartsen left-footed shot from the left side of the box caromed straight down off the crossbar and out. The Loons finished the half with a 6-0 edge on shots on goal but dos Santos made several big saves, including one on a Kyle Duncan blast from inside the right side of the box. San Diego tied it on Dreyer's left-footed penalty shot into the bottom left corner of the net for his seventh goal of the season. The score was set up when Duncan got called for a tripping penalty on Alex Mighten on the left edge of the 18-yard box. Both teams had excellent chances in stoppage time. Kelvin Yeboah set up Joaquin Pereyra for a left-footed shot at the top of the 6-yard box that a diving dos Santos knocked away by the left post. Dreyer then passed to a wide-open Ingvartsen in the middle of the box on a 2-on-1 counter but Ingvartsen's left-footed shot hit the crossbar. --Field Level Media
