Anantapur MLA conducts surprise inspection at GGH

He also inspected the Out-Patient departments and spoke with patients waiting in the queue.The MLA expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of Heads of Departments (HODs) during OP service hours and sought an explanation from the hospital superintendent.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasad said that while the hospital has a capacity of 560 beds, the number of in-patients exceeds 1,200. He stated that between 2,000 and 2,300 outpatients receive medical services daily, with numbers reaching up to 3,000 on Mondays. He mentioned that patients come seeking medical care not only from within the district but also from neighbouring States.Stating that the existing staff and facilities are insufficient, he said this issue has been brought to the notice of the State government, requesting additional doctors, medical staff, and other necessary facilities. He stated that after assuming office, they established facilities like mother’s milk bank using both government and CSR funds.“While mother’s milk banks previously existed only in Tirupati and Kakinada, the one established in Anantapur now stands top among all others in the State,” he said. Mr Prasad acknowledged frequent complaints regarding sanitation at the government hospital and attributed the same to staff shortage and assured that it would be resolved soon.
