Amitabh Bachchan addresses health concerns, cites hand pain amid KBC 18 absence

Breaking his silence on growing concerns over his health after missing the recent schedule of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 (KBC 18), veteran Hindi actor Amitabh Bachchan shares a special Diwali message. The 84-year-old has revealed that he is currently experiencing physical discomfort in the hand he uses to write. In his latest Tumblr blog post, Bachchan addressed well-wishers. He apologised for the delay in acknowledging the overwhelming volume of greetings and gifts he continues to receive at his residence. The veteran wrote, "I have been receiving greetings and gifts from so many well-wishers, and in such abundance that I am now running out of space to keep them. Not storing these gifts properly would amount to disrespecting them. Therefore, to all of you who have been sending gifts as expressions of your affection, I wish to convey my appreciation and acknowledgement. I am also making an effort to respond to each of you personally through letters (sic)."Detailing the hurdle behind his slower response rate, the veteran actor admitted that personal physical strain had forced him to slow down.He wrote, "I had wanted to write these replies myself. However, I have been experiencing some discomfort in the hand I use for writing, which has caused a delay. I sincerely apologise (sic)."Reflecting philosophically on the frequency of his apologies amid current circumstances, the actor mused on the grace of seeking forgiveness and navigating how people choose to handle personal grievances. He highlighted that while one can only ask for pardon and hope for understanding, the choice between harbouring resentment or embracing peace ultimately shapes human experience.Concluding his reflective message, the legendary actor weighed in on the lingering sting of bitterness versus the contentment found in forgiveness. He added, “So, happiness or resentment – that is the question. One brings peace and contentment; the other leaves behind a lingering sting. Now, you must decide: Would you rather embrace contentment or hold on to that sting? Many people find satisfaction in holding on to hurt, while others find it in contentment. Diversity in life is the mystery of life itself. And mysteries, too, can be profound, unique and shaped by circumstances (sic).”The shooting of KBC 18 has been temporarily halted after host Amitabh Bachchan was reported to be under the weather. In the interim, the broadcasting channel, Sony Entertainment Television, has resorted to re-airing older episodes of the popular game show.Dismissing health concerns, an insider confirmed to India Today that the brief hiatus was purely a precautionary measure to allow the veteran actor time to recover from a minor ailment.“There is absolutely nothing to be worried about. It is probably just a seasonal flu. He wasn’t feeling well, and hence, the team decided to give him some time to rest and recover. Big B is doing well and will most likely resume shooting by next weekend. The episodes will air as usual from November 16,” the source told India Today.Meanwhile, Bachchan recently wrapped up a special episode featuring the team of the upcoming film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend — including actors Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, and director Nitesh Tiwari — nearly two weeks ago before taking a scheduled break. He is expected to return to the set next week following Diwali, with fresh episodes slated to go on air from November 16. Recently, during his traditional Sunday appearance outside Jalsa, the screen legend greeted fans from behind what was reported to be a bulletproof glass enclosure, with his son Abhishek Bachchan accompanying him on the balcony. The development came against the backdrop of heightened security measures surrounding the actor's residence, Jalsa, after threat emails were directed at the Mumbai Mayor. Furthermore, probe details emerging from the recent Tiger Shroff firing case indicated that the accused had conducted a preliminary recce of the veteran star's property. On the work front, Bachchan's last theatrical release was the 2024 Tamil action drama, Vettaiyan featuring superstar Rajinikanth.- Ends
