Amit Malviya dropped as BJP IT chief, Deepak Mhaskey named social media convenor

In its fresh rejig of the organisational structure, the BJP removed Amit Malviya as the head of its IT cell and social media department. Deepak Mhaskey will now handle the responsibilities of the social media department.Amit Malviya and Ram MadhavIn a major organisational reshuffle, the BJP on Monday removed Amit Malviya as the head of the party’s Information and Technology and Social Media Department, bringing an end to his 11-year stint at the helm of the party’s digital communication.The BJP appointed Chhattisgarh leader Deepak Mhaskey as the new convenor of its Social Media Department. The party also named Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav as social media co-convenors.Mhaskey has been active in organisational and media activities in the Chhattisgarh BJP and has also served as a BJP national spokesperson. He was recently appointed chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC).His elevation to a national-level organisational role is being seen as a significant responsibility for a leader from Chhattisgarh and a boost for the state unit. Malviya congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and specifically welcomed Mhaskey as his successor. “Congratulations to all the newly appointed office bearers of the BJP,” Malviya said, describing the appointments as coming at a crucial juncture for the party as it seeks to expand its organisation and message across the country.He said he had worked closely with Mhaskey and the newly appointed co-convenors over the past decade and expressed confidence that they would take the BJP’s digital communication to new milestones. Malviya also thanked the BJP’s social media supporters for their backing during his 11 years as head of the department.“I have had the privilege of working closely with each of them over the last decade,” Malviya said, referring to Mhaskey and the new co-convenors.
