It premiered in 2011 and became a staple for modern horror TV series, with each season telling a uniquely insane tale with a blend of iconic and mesmerizing actors. The series' cast consisted of big staple names such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Jessica Lange, each portraying new characters with each season and each deadlier than the last. Season 13 is gearing up to be the creator's most ambitious season yet, with many crossovers and legendary stars returning to the horror series after departing as their beloved and frightening characters. Murphy confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that American Horror Story season 13 isn't the final season after all, and stated: "Season 13 is not the end; I’m working on season 14 as we speak in terms of, 'What’s the idea?' and 'Who wants to be in it?' I loved doing this season because I had not directed an American Horror Story since Freak Show, I think. Not since season four. And I directed the pilot this year and I just love the process of going to all the castmembers, all of whom are very busy, and saying, 'Hey, can we get the band back together?'" Murphy also opened up more about American Horror Story season 13 and gave a rather disappointing but understandable update by adding, "This season is a tribute to all of the seasons, which we’ll never do again. But it was fun. It was like getting the band back together and once they got on the set with me, it was like we never stopped making this. Most of them had accents, and they instantly fell back into their characters. It was fascinating and thrilling." Stars such as Lange left the series after four seasons, and at the time referenced the busy filming schedule as the reason why she left to pursue other topics. Murphy has shed some light on reuniting with the star 12 years later for the very ambitious American Horror Story season 13 crossover event. "I reached out to her thinking she would say no, and if she had said no, I probably wouldn’t have done it," Murphy revealed, showing the true power that Lange had during those early seasons and how her characters were incredibly vital. Season 13 is fast approaching and fans are still waiting to see how Murphy can combine some of the most iconic characters and seasons into one with Paulson, for example, playing six different characters.
