American Heroes of 9/11: Officer John W. Perry

Townhall Video 2:13 PM on September 09, 2026 Only one off-duty NYPD officer died on 9/11 and he had retired that same morning. John Perry was at One Police Plaza handing in his badge when the first plane hit, so he asked for it back, grabbed an NYPD shirt, and ran to the World Trade Center. He was last seen in the North Tower lobby holding up a woman with chest pains when the South Tower came down. John Perry is an American hero.
