American Airlines’ Targeted Match Offers Executive Platinum For 50,000 Loyalty Points—Plus 4 Flagship Lounge Passes

American Airlines is offering targeted Executive Platinum status through March 31, 2028 after earning just 50,000 Loyalty Points in four months. And travelers approved for an Executive Platinum match receive four passes to their business class Flagship Lounges, too. This is their elevated corporate Instant Status Pass offer. You need status with another airline and an eligible employer or business relationship to get in. The 50,000-point path to Executive Platinum also requires being a Citi/AAdvantage primary cardmember. Requests are due by 11:59 p.m. Central time on October 23, 2026. A new Reddit report calls attention to the offer. The poster says approval was nearly instant and that it showed up under Promotions in their American Airlines account. 1-Phase Instant Status Passby u/UltimateTeam in r/americanairlines I covered last year’s version, which also included Flagship passes and a single four-month challenge. This year’s offer improves the initial match for more travelers, and adds an extra status bump for Citi cardmembers when the challenge ends. American Airlines Flagship Lounge Philadelphia Who Can Get This Offer It doesn’t show up in my account, where I’m already Executive Platinum. It doesn’t show up in my wife’s account either, and she has no American Airlines status. The terms tie eligibility to your company’s relationship with American, or to being a registered traveler with an AAdvantage Business Select tier partner. Check the Promotions tab of your account, and eligible business travelers can use the corporate application linked above. It asks for company information, email verification and proof of status. American says to allow two to four weeks for processing, which would be insane (when someone wants to switch their business, that moment is focal, waiting weeks shows why they shouldn’t). The Reddit poster had a much faster experience. Travelers without status on another airline have a separate corporate Gold trial offer with 10,000 points for Gold, 25,000 for Platinum, 50,000 for Platinum Pro and 100,000 for Executive Platinum. Two Separate Status Bumps First, American gives eligible travelers one tier above their usual match, up to Executive Platinum. Here’s the initial status chart for this offer: Your Current Airline Status American Status For Four Months Flagship Passes Delta Silver; United Premier Silver; JetBlue Mosaic 1; Southwest A-List Platinum None Delta Gold; United Premier Gold; JetBlue Mosaic 2; Southwest A-List Preferred Platinum Pro None Delta Platinum, Diamond or Delta 360; United Premier Platinum, Premier 1K or Global Services; JetBlue Mosaic 3 or 4 Executive Platinum 4 Last year, Delta Platinum, United Premier Platinum and JetBlue Mosaic 3 matched to Platinum Pro with two Flagship passes. This year they get Executive Platinum and four passes. Second, the status you keep after four months depends on the Loyalty Points you earn during the challenge. Citi/AAdvantage primary cardmembers receive one tier above what those points would otherwise earn, capped at Executive Platinum: Loyalty Points Earned In Four Months Status Without The Citi Bump Status With The Citi Bump 10,000 Gold Platinum 25,000 Platinum Platinum Pro 50,000 Platinum Pro Executive Platinum 100,000 Executive Platinum Executive Platinum Earned status lasts through March 31, 2028. Executive Platinum normally takes 200,000 Loyalty Points in a qualification year. For instance, a Delta Platinum member can start with American Executive Platinum and four Flagship passes, then earn 50,000 points during the challenge and keep Executive Platinum with an eligible Citi card. A Southwest A-List Preferred member can start with Platinum Pro and earn their way to Executive Platinum on the same 50,000-point path. Failing the challenge can still get you Gold. Eligible Citi primary cardmembers who don’t successfully complete it receive Gold through March 31, 2027. Terms allow registration even if you participated in a one-phase Instant Status Pass within the previous two years. Participating in this offer starts a new two-year restriction on other Instant Status Pass promotions. The Flagship Passes Are A Great Kicker With The Offer American sells Flagship Lounge visits for $150 each, so four passes have a $600 retail price. They probably aren’t worth that, but there’s real value. The passes are deposited within 30 days of approval and expire 182 days after deposit. They admit the holder, without guests, subject to capacity. You need an eligible same-day American or oneworld flight. They don’t include Flagship Dining access. Flagship Lounges are at Chicago O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia. New York JFK’s Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea lounges are joint lounges with British Airways that aren’t branded Flagship. Hotels And Shopping Count Towards The Challenge Loyalty Points can come from qualifying flights, AAdvantage Hotels, shopping, dining and credit card spending and other activities. There’s no minimum flights required for the challenge. If you’ve already got some progress towards status, bear in mind that the 25% status bonus at 60,000 points (which requires activation) counts. With that bonus active, an eligible hotel booking earning 15,000 Loyalty Points produces 18,750. Three stays would produce 56,250 points. This Is Much Closer To How A Status Match Should Work American’s ordinary status match uses three consecutive four-month phases. Executive Platinum requires a 67,000-point goal in each phase. This corporate offer lets you finish in one four-month period, and the Citi benefit cuts the Executive Platinum requirement to 50,000. I’ve criticized the repeated hoops for years since Instant Status Pass was introduced. It’s way too complicated. They should strive for fast, simple, and welcoming. Topics on this page
