American Airlines Drops 6 International Routes: See All Flight Changes Now

In September 2026, Cirium Diio data shows that American will be the second-largest international carrier from the US, after United Airlines. American plans an average of 301 daily international departures next month (double for both ways), up marginally year-over-year. 261 such routes will be available. When flights are considered, the most-served link will be between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Monterrey. The long route was always served daily on the 285-seat Boeing 787-9. With a block time of up to 14 hours and 30 minutes, it was the longest nonstop service from the Pennsylvania hub. American replaced close partner Qatar Airways, which served PHL from April 2014 to October 2023. American ceased its JFK-DOH operation in favor of PHL-DOH, with Qatar Airways consequently increasing its own frequencies to JFK.
