Earlier this year we began seeing patches for AMD GFX1170 graphics IP labeled as "RDNA 4m" and that was then completed with also adding GFX1171 and GFX1172 as additional targets for the AMDGPU LLVM compiler back-end and AMDGPU kernel driver. Merged today for Mesa 26.3 is now adding the GFX1171 target to Mesa 26.3 for the RADV and RadeonSI drivers. Back in April was the AMD GFX1170 support for RADV and RadeonSI drivers. Only today though was the GFX1171 support merged for what will be Mesa 26.3. There still isn't any GFX1172 target added to Mesa either, so presumably these additional RDNA 4m variants will be launching later with these additions coming months later compared to the initial GFX1170 bring-up. While rather straight-forward additions from the Mesa side, perhaps they have been waiting on actual hardware before adding the new chip identification to the common AMD code within Mesa. This merge is what exposes the GFX1171 support. It amounts to just new IDs and otherwise following the same driver code paths as GFX1170, which is largely following the same paths as GFX115x / RDNA 3.5 GPUs. In any event, another addition for Mesa 26.3 to look forward to with its release in Q4.
