Ambulance called as Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard collapses on soap set

Beverley updated fans following a scary situation (Picture: ITV/Instagram/beverleycallard) Coronation Street royalty and soap legend, Beverley Callard, was taken unwell while filming scenes on Fair City yesterday, amid her brave battle with breast cancer. The actress revealed that she’d been diagnosed back in February of this year, and has since kept fans and followers up to date as she navigates her treatment, having documented both her surgical and radiotherapy journeys. Beverley uploaded a video to Instagram yesterday, detailing a scary moment that she lost consciousness while on the Fair City set. Flanked by her beautiful dogs, Beverley began the video by saying: ‘Well, what a day.’ ‘I’ve been at work this week filming the most amazing scenes, really good, great scripts, working with people who are so good, but good fun as well,’ she continued. ‘And it was all going swimmingly and then today, I have no idea what happened to me, but I was all ready to start a new scene with Emily, who plays my daughter, and we just sat there getting ready, about to run lines, and I lost consciousness for a few minutes, maybe 10 minutes, which was very odd.’ Detailing the measures Fair City took to look after her, she continued: ‘Anyway, because of protocol at work, they had to check me out and everything and an ambulance came. ‘I desperately didn’t want to go to hospital. ‘I recovered and then felt fine again, but I can’t explain what it was. As I say, I seemed to lose 10 minutes but I don’t know why. ‘I was checked out by the ambulance men and everything and they were happy to let me come home as long as I rested, so I’ve got to rest all weekend.’ Beverley playfully added: ‘But now I have to tell you I feel a complete fraud because I’m home and I feel perfectly normal. Beverley has documented her courageous fight against cancer (Picture: Ken McKay/ITV/Shutterstock) ‘The only thing that did happen was my blood pressure was through the roof but obviously I’ve not been right since the radiotherapy – this feeling of nausea is just horrendous when it comes on I’m still going through that – but aside from that I don’t know what’s going on. ‘I’m at the hospital again next week so I’ll probably know more and I’m awaiting the results of these other tests and the biopsies they’ve taken from my stomach.’ Beverley continued: ‘So that’s it really. ‘As say I feel a bit of a fraud but the dogs know I’m poorly, they won’t leave me alone again, so there we go. ‘If anybody else has had this please let me know because I don’t know what’s going on with me at all.’ Beverley signed the video off with: ‘lots of love’ Breast cancer symptoms The first symptom of breast cancer that most women notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast. Beverley Callard is currently playing Lily in Fair City (Picture: RTE) Beverley captioned the post: ‘Well… that was an eventful day at work! ‘Not really something I can explain but I certainly wasn’t expecting a visit from paramedics today. ‘I’m feeling fine now…just another sign that something isn’t quite right.’ The comment section was, of course, flooded with love and support, with @vic_smithx writing: ‘sending much love… I think you need to slow down and focus on getting more rest your body is trying to heal and needs rest … I know it’s boring but essential’ @emmacurtis34 added: ‘Sounds like a vacant seizure. I hope it wasn’t and surely the paramedics would have said something if they thought it was. Please rest Beverly, cancer and treatment is so exhausting.’ @deerosser wrote: ‘yes radiotherapy is so invasive it is probably that.
