It was announced in October 2025 that Amazon MGM Studios was moving forward with the prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch, with Shameless and Gotham alum Cameron Monaghan stepping into the role made famous by Titus Welliver. The story unfolds in the 1990s during a particularly tense time in Los Angeles, with a younger Harry facing a crossroads in his life after serving in the Gulf War. Entertainment Weekly reports that Bosch: Start of Watch will premiere on MGM+ on January 10, with new episodes dropping weekly until the finale on February 21. Along with the confirmation of the release schedule, a set of first-look images was revealed, highlighting Monaghan in his new role. He's joined by Power's Omari Hardwick, who plays Harry's training officer. Check the photos below: Bosch: Start of Watch unfolding more than three decades ago will prove crucial to the story in more ways than one. The action will center on Harry as a 26-year-old during his first year as a rookie officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. The timeframe allows the MGM+ Original to examine the LAPD’s attack on Rodney King in March 1991 and the enormous fallout that followed. But along with the fact that Los Angeles is dealing with racial tensions, gang violence, and a growing division within the police force, Start of Watch will put the spotlight on Harry as he's drawn into a major heist investigation that challenges everything he believed he knew. In addition to Hardwick as Eli Bridges, some of the key cast members include Ariana Guerra (CSI: Vegas) as Rosa, a fellow rookie officer and potential love interest. JD Pardo (Mayans MC), meanwhile, portrays Cory, a professional thief and Harry's adopted brother. More to come...
