Serendipity came out in 2001, with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale in the lead roles of Jonathan Trager and Sara Thomas, two strangers who fall in love over the course of one night and hope that they'll be reunited someday, despite already being in separate relationships and locations. Molly Shannon, Jeremy Piven, John Corbett, Bridget Moynahan and Eugene Levy also star in the film. Deadline reports that Michael Showalter has signed on as director of a new Serendipity, which will be a modern reboot of the story at Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax (the original film's studio).
