Altay Bayindir on verge of leaving Man Utd as Everton make shock transfer enquiry for youngster

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is on the verge of leaving the club after three years. Bayindir’s agent held further talks with United about a transfer earlier this week. United signed Bayindir for £4.1million from Fenerbahce on deadline day in September 2023 but he has conceded 31 goals in 17 appearances. Heaton played the full 90 minutes against Atletico but Senne Lammens is expected back in goal against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg next week after he reported for pre-season a few days ago. United signed Karl Darlow to provide cover for Lammens but he is still out following a procedure that took place at the end of last season. Former Leeds United goalkeeper Darlow, 35, is due to be available for the start of the new season. Everton have also contacted United about the possibility of a move for 20-year-old striker Ethan Wheatley, who was dropped from the squad against Atletico and Rosenborg last week. He has made four substitute appearances for United but the academy graduate could make the surprising switch to Everton’s academy. Championship clubs have also been in contact with United about Wheatley, who is under contract until 2028. Everton have issues up front with Beto and Thierno Barry both unconvincing but Wheatley would not be considered a first-team recruit.
