Allegiant Air Cancels Flights To These 7 Airports: See Affected Routes

In the 12 months to May 2026, the country's Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that the ultra-low-cost carrier transported just shy of 19 million round-trip passengers. All were domestic, and the airline had 2% of the vast market. Like any other operator, Allegiant has route and airport churn. Some come and go. It's the nature of the business, perhaps especially when an airline is a ULCC, which tends to be more entrepreneurial. Usually, the number of additions outweighs the cuts, which means a growing network. But that's not always the case. A Quick Word About Allegiant's Served Airports Credit: Shutterstock Between August 2026 and April 2027, the ULCC's schedule submission to OAG shows that it plans to serve 123 airports, all of which are, of course, in the US. This reflects what is known as of August 20 and may change, especially next year. They are in 42 states. Entirely predictably, Florida is utterly critical, accounting for 65% of the airline's total activity. That's more than for Breeze Airways (58%). 12 airports in the Sunshine State see Allegiant, which is more than anywhere else. New York is next (seven airports), followed by California (six) and Montana and Tennessee (five each). Allegiant's network between January 2025 and July 2026 has been compared to what is scheduled from August 2026 to next April. This process identified that seven airports have been removed from the carrier's map, as summarized in the next section. However, when writing, no airport is currently due to join its network from August onward. Of course, that'll change in time. Five airports were added earlier in 2026, which will be discussed in the final section. Allegiant No Longer Flies To These Seven Airports Credit: Allegiant Air Five of the airports involve California. Allegiant's capacity to/from the Golden State has thus fallen considerably. The airline's departures in August 2026 are 26% lower than they were in the same summer month last year. The decrease would be even greater, but the airline now serves a new airport in the state. More on that later in the article. The reduction means that California has fallen from being Allegiant's eighth most-served state by flights to 13th. Even South Carolina now has more flights, although the carrier no longer serves the state capital. Notice Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), which last saw Allegiant 12 months ago. This is only part of the story. As you'll know, Allegiant and MSP-based Sun Country are merging. While they continue to operate separately, they will eventually become one airline under the Allegiant name. However, five airports welcomed the ULCC earlier this year. The additions are Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), California (February 2026), Columbia, Missouri (June 2026), La Crosse, Wisconsin (February 2026), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (May 2026), and Trenton, New Jersey (February 2026). Allegiant switched from the costly and congested LAX to BUR. Serving BUR supplements its operation from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in the huge LA Basin, which has been part of its network since 2021. Four routes are served from BUR: Bellingham, Des Moines, Indianapolis, and Provo. Unsurprisingly, all four cities were previously flown from LAX, most recently Bellingham, which is located between Seattle and Vancouver, in January 2026. Des Moines and Provo also have flights from SNA.
