‘All That’ alum Christy Knowings dead at 46

“All That” alum Christy Knowings died Tuesday after suffering from an asthma attack. She was 46. The Nickelodeon star died after she was placed on life support at a Los Angeles-based hospital last Friday, TMZ reported. According to the outlet, her family ultimately decided to take her off it. She played various roles on the comedy series, including Jessica and Penny Lane. However, Knowings’ favorite role was as Gloria Bankhead in Season 6. “She was an over-the-top Martha Stewart,” Knowings said about the character in a 2019 interview with Bustle. “I had never played any character like her!” The family of the actress (seen above on “All That”) decided to remove her from life support. The writers, the stage managers … It was fun to just be in character like that, even when the cameras weren’t rolling. It’s what I’d do constantly.”. Knowings also praised the diversity among the cast, explaining, “I’m from the Bronx and Native American Afro-Latina, so I was able to bring so much to the table.” Knowings’ most iconic line on the series was her and Bynes’ catchphrase, “Whatever.” Her last TV role was as herself on “Sesame Street” alongside her twin brother, Chris, who remains a regular on the show. Knowings’ death comes after fellow “All That” alum Kianna Underwood died in a hit-and-run accident in January.
