If the game has no friend lists, it will typically use a special invite code, which involves creating a private room first and then sharing a generated code, such as in Phasmophobia. There is another way to invite a specific person to a game: use the Xbox app. This may seem completely counterintuitive, but it's the case specifically for Sea of Thieves. While the game was originally an Xbox and Microsoft Store exclusive, it was released on Steam in 2020 and PS5 in 2024.
