Palworld: Every Pal Redesign In 1.0 Published Jul 29, 2026, 4:58 PM EDT Gabrielle is a staff writer for TheGamer who began working in gaming journalism in May 2022, immediately after graduating cum laude with her Bachelors in English. She's spent her life chasing Platinum trophies and completionist collections, even before a company started paying her to do it on the internet. When Palworld first launched in early access back in January 2024, the comparisons to Pokemon all but felt inevitable (and have resulted in quite a notorious lawsuit since), and fans speculate that some of the more egregious examples that Nintendo and GameFreak point to in their suit are the Pals that got changed in the 1.0 release. There are four Pals that got a new design in Palworld 1.0, and in the list below, we'll be taking a look at the old designs for these Pals as compared to the new ones to point out what's changed since early access. This list of redesigned Pals is accurate as of the date of publishing shortly after the release of Palworld 1.0 on July 10, 2026, but we'll update as needed if additional Pals see redesigns in future patches or updates. Verdash Photo Credit: Vice Elemental Type Grass Partner Skill Grassland Gymnast: While in the party, grants an additional jump and an additional midair dash. There are already plenty of Grass Pals to love in the Palworld 1.0 update between old favorites and newcomers alike, and while early Palworld fans loved Verdash right away for its impressive combat prowess and exploration skills alike, they couldn't help but to point out similarities to beloved Fire-type Pokemon, Cinderace. Both were bunny-like creatures with extremely humanoid proportions and shorts with a design and fuzzy bits around the lower hems, with a different-colored stripe between their ears to match their elemental typing. All we needed was for Verdash to find a soccer ball and the goal of accusations had all but kicked itself. In the Palworld 1.0 launch, though, Verdash has gotten a makeover and looks little like the Pokemon in question anymore. Its proportions are vastly more cartoonish now, with smaller feet and larger hands, and the area between its ears has kept its coloration but gotten a massive, rounder redesign. Finally, the shorts it seems to wear are noticeably different, now without any hemming on the bottom and a more distinctive symbol on the fabric-like parts. Fenglope Photo Credit: Vice Elemental Type Neutral Partner Skill Wind and Clouds: Can be ridden. Can do a double jump while mounted. Increases mounted movement speed by a percentage per Partner Skill Level you've got with Fenglope. Another Pal that drew immense speculation when it came to designs on Pals that looked a little familiar to fans of the creature-catcher genre of games was Fenglope, a teal blue stallion-like Pal with light blue cloud-like formations as fur tufts on its body and tan horns sprouting from a black section on the details of its face. Pokemon fans immediately drew parallels between Fenglope and Cobalion, one of the Swords of Justice from the fifth generation of games. While Cobalion's feet are different, with the Iron Will Pokemon is a Steel type and shows it on its leg and foot design, the similarities aren't hard to notice. Fenglope was another of the Pals that were redesigned for Palworld 1.0, debuting the new look in the game with a whole new purple color palette. Additionally, its now got cloud-like horns instead of antlers and additional detailing along the darker parts of its body to continue to distinctify it. Grintale Photo Credit: Vice Elemental Type Neutral Partner Skill Glaring Cat's Eye: Can be ridden. While in the party, picking up a Pal Egg has a chance to yield an extra egg based on Grintale's Skill Level with Glaring Cat's Eye. While Grintale wasn't a Pal that drew comparisons to Pokemon like the others on our list of Pals that got redesigns for the full launch of Palworld 1.0, it still saw a change when it entered the full Palpedia nonetheless. Fans online are divided on which version they prefer, with many saying that the new version is more of a sly, evil smile than before. It seems Pocketpair wanted to lean more into "grim" than "grin" with this change, leaving Grintale looking much more like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland than it did in the early access versions of Palworld. It's much less smiley now than it used to be, and while the teeth are no longer as sharp and spiky, that doesn't necessarily make them feel any more welcoming... Not only has its mouth been made to look much more sinister now that Palworld 1.0 is out, but its eyes have gotten a bit of a redo as well, now with cat's eye liner diagonally off its wide yellow eyes with frighteningly white pupils. Robinquill Photo Credit: Vice Elemental Type Grass Partner Skill Grounded Archer: While in the party, increases the player's bow damage by a percentage relative to Robinquill's Skill Level with Grounded Archer. The changes made to Robinquill's design in the full Palworld 1.0 release were also made to its elemental variant, Robinquill Terra, which adds a Groundtyping on top of Grass, and changes Grounded Archer to Master Archer to increase how quickly your Bows charge instead. The final Pal to receive a full redesign in the launch of Palworld 1.0 was Robinquill, a Grass-type archer whose lore, type, theming, color scheme, and general appearance immediately reminded fans of one of the more fascinating Pokemon in the last few generations, Decidueye. The final form of the starter in Alola, Decidueye is a dual-type Grass/Ghost Pokemon with the design of an owl wearing a stealthy cape, shrouding its face with the hood for a mysterious archer vibe. Its verdant green decals themed well with the bright orange detailing, and while Robinquill seems to be more lizard-like than anything, the tan detailing on the feet and helmet mean its color scheme matches Decidueye to a tee as well. Thankfully, Robinquill has a new design in Palworld 1.0 that makes it vastly more like its own entity, with its previous sea green features swapped to more of an olive tone. Its details are now a cherry red instead of the previous orange, and its cape is more folded behind itself, appearing to be the same color as the helmet, which is now more of a mask-like helmet than the previous mohawk spikes.
