All MTG Sets And Event Dates For 2027

While 2026 may be far from over for Magic: The Gathering, it's always worth keeping one eye on the future, and thanks to the recent preview panel at MagicCon Amsterdam, the entire 2027 set roadmap is already complete. Granted, there are still some reveals to come for the three Universes Beyond sets, but we know exactly where we'll be headed for in-universe sets, and there will also be four MagicCon events taking place at locations across the world. So, if you want to know what's coming in MTG throughout 2027, I'll be keeping you up to date with sets, MagicCons, and competitive events alike. Magic: The Gathering 2027 Set Reveals & Release Dates There will be a total of six Magic: The Gathering sets released in 2027, three of which will be in-universe while the remaining three are Universes Beyond. We have dates for all six sets, but only planes/theme reveals for the three in-universe offerings so far. They are: Nauctis: The Sunken Realm - February 5 Kamigawa: Titanbreach - June 4 Zhalfir - October 1 It's incredible to see that we're going to be heading back to Kamigawa, but even more so that it's a Kamigawa that's being invaded by Ikoria. These are two beloved planes combining to make what is sure to be an absolutely stellar in-universe MTG set. Nauctis is a new plane but takes its influence from Atlantis, given that it is entirely underwater. I'm excited to see exactly how we end up in a brand new plane right off the back of Reality Fracture and what significance it has as we kick off the next big overarching Magic story. Finally, there's Zhalfir, which is finally returning following being phased out by Teferi to protect it from the Phyrexian invasion. The only problem is that it's returned on top of what used to be Mirrodin, so this is expected to be yet another crossover set of sorts, similar to Kamigawa: Titanbreach. Universes Beyond 2027 Release Dates When it comes to the Universes Beyond sets for 2027, we have the release dates for all three, but none of the settings. Set One: April 9 Set Two: August 6 Set Three: November 19 MagicCon Amsterdam was very much all about the reveals of the three in-universe sets, but news about the upcoming Universes Beyond sets is expected sometime before the end of 2026. One of these sets is almost guaranteed to be a Marvel set to continue the release of the Infinity Stones in MTG, but it is expected to be much narrower than 2026's generic Marvel Super Heroes release. Other persistent rumors include a Mistborn/Cosmere set, Game of Thrones, and even a Zelda set after Hasbro recently confirmed it owns the right to create toys for the franchise. MagicCons In 2027 There will be four total MagicCon events in 2027, meaning an extra event has been added to the calendar following the proven popularity of the existing rotation. Detroit - February 26-28 Tokyo - May 14-16 Las Vegas - August 27-29 Amsterdam - December 3-5 There will still be two MagicCons in North America, but one is heading to a brand-new city, Detroit, right at the start of the year. Tokyo is also getting its first MagicCon event, which will take place right before the release of Kamigawa: Titanbreach, which is surely no coincidence. As for returning locations, Las Vegas and Amsterdam are both getting another MagicCon event in 2027, though the dates are shifting so both will take place well into the second half of the year. Competitive MTG Events In 2027 During this MagicCon Amsterdam preview panel, we also got a sneak peek at some plans for competitive events in 2027. While we don't yet have a date for next year's World Championships, they are expected to take place sometime in Q4. What we do have, however, is the Limited Championship, a new event taking place in Minneapolis from June 18-20. Pro Tour events are still expected to follow each set release, leading up to the eventual World Championships at the end of the year.
