Jordan Peele has only directed three feature films, but Get Out, Us, and Nope were enough to establish him as one of the defining filmmakers in modern horror. More than four years have now passed since Nope, making the wait for his mysterious fourth movie considerably longer than anyone initially expected. ScreenRant’s ranking of Jordan Peele’s movies shows how remarkably strong that short directorial résumé already is. Peele has hardly disappeared in the meantime. Monkeypaw Productions has continued developing projects with other filmmakers, allowing him to expand his influence without personally sitting in the director’s chair. If you look back on all the movies that inspired Jordan Peele, it becomes clear how broad his own genre interests are, which helps explain how varied Monkeypaw’s developing slate has become. This list focuses on projects that still show credible signs of moving forward and have Peele directly involved as either a director or producer. That means leaving out rumors and older announcements without enough recent evidence of life, rather than inflating the number with every title that has ever been connected to his name. The five movies are also at very different stages. Portrait of God has recently gained considerable momentum, while Peele’s fourth directorial feature remains in development and several others are still waiting for the pieces required to reach production. Monkeypaw itself currently lists the untitled Peele project, Sinkhole, and The People Under the Stairs among its Coming Soon projects. His fourth feature will follow Nope, but almost everything beyond that remains secret. Universal previously dated the movie for Oct. 23, 2026 before removing it from the calendar, although reports have continued to describe Peele as actively developing the horror thriller. The secrecy is hardly unusual for a filmmaker who revealed remarkably little about Nope before audiences actually saw it. Even the true nature of that movie’s threat became one of its biggest surprises, as Nope’s alien demonstrates. The longer wait is unusual, however: Get Out, Us, and Nope arrived within five years, while Peele’s fourth film still has no replacement release date. Portrait Of God Portrait of God currently has the clearest momentum of Peele’s upcoming producing projects. The feature expands Dylan Clark’s viral horror short of the same name, with Clark directing from a screenplay co-written with Joe Russo and Chase Infiniti attached to star. Peele and Win Rosenfeld are producing for Monkeypaw alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The original short follows a religious young woman studying an unsettling painting that supposedly depicts God, only to discover that some viewers can see something hidden inside its darkness. The feature’s exact story remains under wraps, but its combination of Peele and Raimi behind the scenes makes the project immediately intriguing. Recent production reporting has listed it in pre-production following its move to Lionsgate. The People Under The Stairs Custom Image by Dalton Norman Jordan Peele producing a new version of Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs makes immediate sense. The 1991 original follows a young Black boy who enters the home of his family’s wealthy landlords and discovers a far more disturbing world inside, blending horror with an attack on inequality and exploitation. That combination naturally overlaps with territory Peele has explored himself, although reducing either filmmaker to “social horror” undersells what makes their movies work. ScreenRant’s explanation of Get Out’s ending shows how Peele can build his larger ideas directly into character and genre rather than stopping the movie to explain them. Monkeypaw continues to list The People Under the Stairs among its Coming Soon projects, although no director, cast, or release date has been announced. Sinkhole Sinkhole has taken a considerably slower route. Universal acquired the rights to Leyna Krow’s short story in 2020, with Peele and Rosenfeld producing through Monkeypaw alongside Issa Rae. Rae was also discussed as a potential star when the adaptation was first announced. The premise begins when a family discovers a mysterious sinkhole behind its new home. Anything broken that enters the hole comes back repaired, giving the supernatural idea an obvious darker implication once humans begin considering what “fixed” might mean for them. Updates have been scarce, but Monkeypaw still places Sinkhole on its Coming Soon slate, which is the strongest current reason to keep it among Peele’s active projects. Suicide By Sunlight Custom Image by SR Image Editor Suicide by Sunlight would expand Nikyatu Jusu’s 2019 short into a feature, with Peele and Rosenfeld attached as producers. The story takes place in a world where Black vampires can survive daylight because melanin protects them from the sun, centering on a vampire struggling with her bloodlust while trying to regain custody of her children. This is the least advanced project on the list, and its inclusion comes with that caveat. The feature adaptation remains associated with Jusu, Monkeypaw, and Universal in current film listings, but it has not shown the same visible recent momentum as Portrait of God. If it does reach the screen, however, its premise would fit neatly into Peele’s history of championing filmmakers with unconventional approaches to horror. Peele’s upcoming slate therefore looks very different from the straightforward run of Get Out, Us, and Nope. Only one of these projects is intended as his next writer-director feature, while the others reflect how extensively Monkeypaw has expanded his role behind the scenes. Theories have long connected ideas across his own films, including the possibility of a shared universe between Get Out and Us, but his producing slate gives him an even larger collection of worlds to help build. The biggest question remains when Peele himself will finally return behind the camera. Until Universal gives his fourth movie another release date, Portrait of God appears to have the most tangible forward momentum, while the untitled film remains the one audiences are likely to scrutinize most closely whenever Peele finally decides to reveal it.
