READING and Leeds Festival is kicking off tomorrow with around 190,000 music lovers set to descend across both events. With the sister festivals preparing to welcome guests, ticket holders are being warned of specific banned items. Campers and those with day tickets must ensure that the various prohibited items are not in their possession – unless they want to risk confiscation or even being kicked out. It’s bad news for fans of a handy vape and those who were hoping to light up a barbecue. The official list of banned items features both disposable vapes and barbecues of any kind. Refillable vapes are allowed to be taken into the festival. List of 15 items banned at Reading and Leeds Aerosols (over 250ml) Air horns Animals (other than registered hearing dogs or guide dogs) Balloons Barbecues of any kind Blowtorches Drones and other flying devices Fitted gas canisters/cylinders are only permitted in camper vans in the campsites Firewood Fireworks/pyrotechnics, flares/distress flares, smoke bombs Gas cylinders/canisters of any size for non-cooking purposes (including nitrous oxide) Glass bottles, jars, containers over 100ml. Items under this measurement, such as small perfume bottles, nail varnish, and small mirrors will be permitted Disposable vapes Motorcycle helmets Illegal drugs are also forbidden, as well as animals (unless they are service dogs), drones, fireworks and glass bottles over 100ml. Barbecues and campfires are strictly forbidden, due to the dry ground on the sites caused by UK droughts this summer. Most read in The Sun Anyone found lighting a fire will be removed from the events. Guests are also being urged to be cautious with cigarettes and to not dispose of them on the ground. This comes as Reading Festival bosses backtracked on the decision to ban camping stoves. With rainier weather having arrived in some parts of England, a statement explained: “Reading Festival have decided that due to the change in weather conditions, camping stoves compliant with the ‘What You Can and Can’t Bring’ section of the website will be permitted into the campsites. “Only permitted types of camping stoves will be allowed, so please take time to check the requirements in advance or your stove may not be allowed in.” Comment now
