Aldi is changing opening times to close EARLIER – full list of the 97 stores affected, is your local in there?

ALDI is trialling closing an hour early in some stores to make savings – and today The Sun can reveal the full list of affected branches. The shops are shutting at 9pm instead of 10pm from Monday to Saturday. Customers are being invited to give feedback on the change and this will be considered before any longer term decisions are taken. The closing times of some 97 branches were changed in July. Currently most of Aldi’s 1,080-plus UK stores are continuing to shut at 10pm during the week and on Saturdays. The grocery giant explained it was always looking for ways to make savings, in order for customers to pay lower prices. It said: “As the UK’s cheapest supermarket, our commitment to customers is that they will always pay the lowest possible prices every time they shop with us. “Our efficient business model means that we are always looking for new ways to pass on even greater savings to Aldi shoppers.” It’s also understood that the change is being trialled in stores where footfall was lower in the final hour of trading. Most read in Money It’s not known if further branches will be included in the trial, and when a decision will be taken. The move has not been universally appreciated, with one annoyed customer posting on X.com: “What’s happening @AldiUK closing my local store early. Means I have to go to Tesco a mile away before work. Also used to do the full shop between 9pm and 10pm but now it’s closed at 9pm. Tesco it is!!” Notices have been put up in the affected stores. The move comes after Aldi last year announced plans to invest a further £1.6billion into its store expansion plan over the next two years, with a goal of opening 80 stores.
