1 min readTraitors is back with new blood... and a tray of raw salmon? The first challenge of the new season featured the cast of shipwrecked normies searching for gold among a series of waterlogged crates. Only three contained treasure chests laden with $10,000 worth of precious coin, while the rest were filled with old books, assorted junk, and a seemingly random silver platter of sliced fish.“Who put raw salmon in there?” asked dog groomer/Faithful Arissa.Who indeed. And who else but Traitors host Alan Cumming could solve this minor mystery? While he cackled at the prop gag, Cumming can’t take credit for it. Instead, he credits “one of those evil missions people” with masterminding the crate cameo. “It was a little ‘in’ joke because it was so hilarious how much the salmon became a thing at breakfast last year,” Cumming tells Men’s Health. “It was a little Easter egg.”Longtime Traitors fans will recall how coveted smoked salmon was at breakfast each morning, second only to making it to the table alive. “We would all be scrambling to get the salmon because it was the most edible and delicious thing at the breakfast table,” Traitors season 4 contestant Monét X Change told Betches. The appeal is understandable—salmon is rich in protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. That means it’s ideal fuel for Faithfuls navigating muscle-straining physical challenges and blood pressure-raising Traitor hunts around the Round Table.Traitors: New Blood streams live on Peacock every Thursday at 8 pm E.T.
