Dakota Davis(Prattville Police Department)By Carol Robinson | crobinson@al.comA Prattville police officer killed in an off-duty crash is being remembered as man of deep love, an investigative curiosity and unwavering devotion to his wife and family. Cpl. Dakota Davis, 25, was killed Monday afternoon in Autauga County. “His greatest treasures were the people he loved, especially his beloved wife Chloe and family, to whom he gave his heart so completely,” according to his obituary. “We loved him with that same depth of devotion, and we will carry that love with us for the rest of our lives.”Alabama State Troopers on Thursday released more information about the crash, which happened at 3:30 p.m. on U.S. 31 northbound at the Interstate 65 Pine Level exit. Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Adric Reed said Davis was driving a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle when he was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 19-year-old Kevin A. McCord Jr. of Deatsville. Davis was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene. Services for Davis will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at Centerpoint Fellowship Church at 1200 McQueen Smith Road. The viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the funeral set to begin at 11 a.m. “As a police officer, he chose a life of service, carrying with him the courage to protect others and the compassion to care deeply for the people around him,” his obituary read. “His presence brought light, his heart held so much goodness, and his love was felt in ways that words can never fully express.”“Though his time with us was far too brief, the life he lived and the love he gave will forever be woven into the hearts of those who knew him.”“There are no words to make sense of a loss so painful or to fill the space left by someone so precious,” according to the tribute. “We can only hold tightly to the memories, honor the man he was, and find comfort in knowing that a love this profound does not end with goodbye.” Carol Robinson is a senior reporter for AL.com, covering crime, public safety and breaking news in more than 30 Alabama counties.
