Alabama high school band earns Rose Parade spot again

(Ringo Chiu via AP)APBy Amber Sutton | asutton@al.comAn Alabama High School marching band is set to perform in one of the nation’s most iconic parades in 2028.Albertville High School recently announced that its Aggie band has been invited to perform in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1, 2028. The band announced the invitation during its Aggie Nation Night, showcasing a video message from 2028 Tournament of Roses President Pam Knapp on the jumbotron, reports the Sand Mountain Leader.This will mark the Aggie band program’s fourth time participating in the national event. The band previously performed in the Rose Parade in 2024, 2018 and 2011. The program, which is celebrating its 100th year, also marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1983, 1987, 1992 and 2007, according to the Sand Mountain Leader.The Albertville High School band was also invited to march in the inauguration parade in 2025, but the event was ultimately canceled after the ceremony was moved indoors due to freezing temperatures.Two Alabama bands, Homewood High School Patriot Band and the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band, marched in the 2026 Rose Parade. In addition, the The Marching Southerners from Jacksonville State University are slated to perform in the 2027 event.The Rose Parade is an iconic annual event that has taken place on New Year’s Day for more than 100 years.
