Canada's third-largest airline will add five new long-haul routes next summer, with Air Transat connecting three different Canadian cities to exciting destinations across the Atlantic. The leisure-focused carrier focuses its operations in Canada's east and is one of the largest operators at Montreal and Toronto airports. In June 2027, the airline will debut five new routes overall, with two from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Quebec Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). It is also adding another nonstop link between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and the UK. Flights will operate to Faro Airport (FAO) once a week, departing from Montreal on a Monday evening. The service will operate from June 14 through October 25. Air Transat already serves Faro with a nonstop flight from Toronto, year-round. No other Canadian airline flies to Faro with its own metal. Route Start Date Frequency End Date Montreal (YUL) to Faro (FAO) June 14, 2027 Weekly October 25, 2027 Providing nonstop services to Faro from Montreal adds to the airline's existing operations to Lisbon Airport (LIS) and Porto (OPO), and the carrier is diversifying beyond major gateways and target underserved markets. These routes tap into demand that otherwise may have required connecting flights. For the airline, its new exciting services to Geneva, Birmingham, Lyon, Barcelona, and Faro continue to strengthen the airline's coverage across Western Europe. The airline's push to provide more nonstop international travel options in Quebec City means that travelers can otherwise avoid major hubs of Montreal or Toronto.
