The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will re-conduct the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) 2026 on September 7 for candidates affected at two test centres in Jaipur after the exam was disrupted by an internal power supply issue.The affected centres, RJ0101 and RJ0102, are located at the TCS-operated iON Digital Zone in Sitapura, Jaipur. AIIMS' official notice said the examination for candidates registered at these centres will now be held on September 7, 2026. Suitable centres in Jaipur are being arranged to accommodate all affected candidates.The decision came after the examination at the two centres was interrupted following its scheduled start at 9 am on August 31. AIIMS said the exam was cancelled at both centres to protect the interests of candidates and maintain fairness and integrity in the recruitment process.WHAT HAPPENED IN JAIPUR?The CRE 2026 is being conducted for recruitment to Group B and Group C posts across various AIIMS and other central government and autonomous healthcare institutions. The examination was scheduled over August 31 and September 1 in three shifts, allowing candidates who applied for multiple posts to appear for all eligible examinations.A total of 30,142 candidates registered for posts covered by the current examination. For the first shift on August 31, 21,098 candidates were registered and 16,193 appeared. At the two affected Jaipur centres, 2,000 candidates were registered. Of these, 1,342 candidates appeared at RJ0101 and 436 at RJ0102 before the examination was interrupted.TCS REPORT ORDEREDAIIMS has instructed TCS to submit a detailed report on the incident. The company has also been directed to preserve relevant system logs, CCTV footage and control-room communications to help assess what caused the disruption.The CRE covers posts including Junior Administrative Assistant, Senior Administrative Assistant, Data Entry Operator, Personal Assistant, Stenographer, Private Secretary, Receptionist, Junior Medical Records Officer and other roles.Fresh testing will cover only affected Jaipur candidates.AIIMS said its Examination Section remains committed to a fair, transparent and equitable recruitment process.
