Aidan O’Brien and John Gosden CONFIRM Ombudsman and Constitution River plus pacemakers for awesome Juddmonte showdown

SportHorse Racing AIDAN O’BRIEN and John Gosden have CONFIRMED Constitution River and Ombudsman for their race of the season head-to-head in Wednesday’s Juddmonte International. The Ballydoyle and Clarehaven No1s safely stood their ground at Thursday’s confirmations stage – ahead of final declarations for the York Ebor clash on Monday. For Constitution River that could be any one – or a mix of – Hawk Mountain, Causeway and Action. While Devil’s Advocate will do the job of ensuring a solid pace is set for his Godolphin stablemate and 10-11 favourite Ombudsman. Elsewhere, Ed Walked confirmed Almaqam, Ralph Beckett kept Pride Of Arras in and Francis Graffard’s colt Zaydann was confirmed. Failing to make the cut for O’Brien were Nassau Stakes winner Diamond Necklace and Irish Derby hero Benvenuto Cellini. Minnie Hauk was also removed as she looks like taking up her engagement in the Yorkshire Oaks. Morris Dancer was pulled from the race by John & Thady Gosden. That means a total of ten horses stood their ground for the £1.5million Group 1 over 1m2f. Most read in Sport O’Brien was also busy confirming a number of horses for the 1m4f Great Voltigeur, also on Wednesday, which included Derby winner Christmas Day. O’Brien’s fancied Pierre Bonnard stood his ground, along with Action, Causeway and Antigua. William Haggas’ Epsom runner-up and Grand Prix de Paris winner Maltese Cross heads the market – although he will carry a penalty for that Group 1 win. Joseph O’Brien confirmed Limestone, while the Gosdens’ well-backed Superior Choice – who was given a St Leger entry earlier this week – was also included. Balding’s Galiyan and Tom Clover’s Round The Table made up the total of ten confirmations.
