In an effort to find the bird, the family has put up large flex posters at Bodla Chauraha and other parts of the city, featuring Mau's photograph along with a message promising a Rs 50,000 reward for information leading to its safe return.According to Sunil Kumar Singh, the family's bond with Mau began on March 15, 2025, when they found the injured parrot lying on a road near the Mental Hospital area after it had apparently fallen from a tree. ' The bird was taken for treatment, but its wings could not fully recover. Instead of leaving it on its own, the family brought Mau home and cared for it until it became a cherished member of the household.Despite keeping the bird at home, the family never confined it to a cage. Mau lived freely around the house and would often accompany family members from one room to another. However, on July 13 at around 4.30 pm, the parrot suddenly flew away towards Sector 4 of the Awas Vikas Colony and has not been seen since. To help people identify Mau, the family put emphasis on the distinctive black markings on its beak and wings, hoping there will be no confusion if someone spots the bird. The search has since spread from the streets of Agra to social media, with residents sharing the missing posters online.Speaking about the loss, Sunil Kumar Singh said Mau was much more than a pet and that the house had felt empty ever since it disappeared. He recalled that the parrot had learnt the names of family members and would even greet visitors by seemingly introducing them.Mamta Singh also shared how attached the family had become to Mau, saying the parrot had become part of their daily routine.
