AerynOS 2026.11 Released With New Installer Option, Other Improvements

AerynOS 2026.11 was released today along with a lengthy blog post highlighting the recent development work on this original Linux distribution. AerynOS 2026.11 is now available as their newest release that also introduces lichen-installer as a new alternative installer. Lichen-installer hasn't yet replaced their current default installer but is now on the ISO for easier testing purposes. Lichen-installer should help in making the installation more robust. AerynOS has also finally landed Fwupd within its repository for easy Linux firmware updating. AerynOS is now offering the Budgie desktop as an option for AerynOS early adopters, including as an install-time option. Some recent package updates for AerynOS include GNOME 51.1, KDE Plasma 6.8.2, COSMIC 1.11, Budgie 10.10.4, Mesa 26.2.6, QEMU 11.1.3, Wine 11.21, and many others. AerynOS 2026.11 is making use of the Linux 7.2.14 kernel. More details on these recent AerynOS initiatives and the new 2026.11 ISO refresh can be found at AerynOS.com.
