Singer Adnan Sami remembered being particularly disappointed with the initial response to the song Nain Se Naino Ko Mila, featuring Raveena Tandon. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Adnan said he had expected the track to become a hit, given its classical base and strong rhythm. The 54-year-old singer said he had high expectations for it because of its classical foundation and strong rhythm. However, the response wasn't quite what he had expected.“For some reason, maybe it didn't fall It definitely didn't fall in line with the songs that had preceded it. So they were maybe expecting a similar kind of space to the previous songs, which this was a bit drastic and a little bit more experimental,” he said.Interestingly, the song eventually found its audience years after its release, thanks in large part to the rise of dance-based reality shows on television. “But the interesting thing was that a few years later, when all these reality dance shows started to come in, it was really, really picked up with a tremendous amount of fervour by the choreographers because it was a very rhythmic song, and it was something that really lent itself to choreography and dance,” Adnan said. He continued, “And so what happened was that it suddenly became very popular on television, and suddenly it just developed a kind of following of its own. It's become like a cult song, and so it's very much a part of my repertoire in my concerts now. But initially, I was very disappointed. I was hoping that it would do better.”Known for hit tracks like Mujhko Bhi Toh Lift Kara De, Tera Chehra and Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Adnan Sami previously released his single Lipstick.- EndsPublished By: Prachi aryaPublished On: Aug 14, 2026 23:45 IST
