Actor Karthi recalls meeting CM Vijay, discussing film piracy ahead of Sardar 2

Actor Karthi recalled a conversation he had with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay about film piracy. Speaking during the promotions of Sardar 2, Karthi revealed that he had discussed the growing problem with Vijay when they met, telling the Chief Minister that he understood the issue better than most, having faced a major piracy setback with Jana Nayagan himself.Speaking to the press while promoting Sardar 2 alongside Ashika Ranganath and SJ Suryah, Karthi said filmmakers continue to face the threat of their work appearing online even before it reaches theatres. He expressed hope that the government would take firm steps against those behind such leaks.“Yes, Vijay sir, our CM understands this issue well. I hope he will take strong action,” Karthi said.Recalling his conversation with Vijay, Karthi said he was particularly direct with him. “When I met our CM, I told him, anna, mathavangala vida ungalukku nallave theriyum. Neengale paathukonga (Brother, you understand this better than anyone else. Please take care of it yourself),” he said. The comment came amid questions about whether politics could also be part of Karthi’s future. The actor laughed off the suggestion and made it clear that, for now, his focus remains on films and making work that audiences enjoy.At the same time, Karthi acknowledged the love received by films such as Kaithi, Sardar and Meiyazhagan. For him, every film is a gamble, with appreciation and criticism being part of the journey. “Every film is different, and we make films hoping to earn appreciation. We are like children trying to make our parents, the audience, happy. If we make a good film, you will appreciate it. If not, you will bash us.
