Actor Chandrachur Singh files case against aunt, cousins over alleged forged will

Actor Chandrachur Singh has lodged an FIR against his aunt Gaytri Devi, two cousins and four others, alleging that his grandfather's will was forged to deprive his father of his inheritance.In a complaint filed at Rorawar police station on Friday, Singh claimed that the signature of his grandfather, Thakur Harender Pal Singh, was forged in 1997, as reported by PTI. The late patriarch, a prominent landowner from Jalalpur on the outskirts of Aligarh, was critically ill at the time and reportedly unable to sign documents.The actor further alleged that his uncle, Ganga Singh, alongside other family members, orchestrated the fraud to deny his father, Captain Baldev Singh, his rightful share of the estate.Singh's family background includes significant public service and royal lineage. His father, Baldev Singh, previously served as an MLA from Khair, Uttar Pradesh. His mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, is the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir in Odisha. This heritage has placed the family and its properties in a prominent spotlight. He completed his schooling at The Doon School in Dehradun and went on to attend St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He initially pursued civil service, preparing for UPSC examinations, before transitioning his focus to a career in acting.Chandrachur Singh entered the Hindi film industry in 1996 with Tere Mere Sapne, produced under Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. The same year, he delivered a breakthrough performance opposite Tabu in Gulzar’s critically acclaimed drama Maachis, which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.Following his notable start, the actor headlined several feature films, including Betaabi, Dil Kya Kare, and Silsila Hai Pyar Ka, though these projects struggled to perform at the box office.He found major commercial success soon after, co-starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai in Josh, as well as featuring opposite Preity Zinta in the hit drama Kya Kehna (2000).
