Actor Amruta Khanvilkar, husband Himanshu warn legal action over separation claims

Actor Amruta Khanvilkar's legal team has warned of legal action against the circulation of defamatory rumours about her personal life. The warning was issued through an official legal statement shared by the actor alongside her actor husband, Himanshu Malhotra.The statement, effective from 10 August 2026, said certain online, social media and digital platforms were circulating content concerning Khanvilkar and her personal life that was "baseless, defamatory and/or in violation of her privacy."In the statement shared on Instagram, the legal team said, "While the right to freedom of expression is respected, any misuse of such freedom to publish, circulate or share defamatory statements, rumours, unverified allegations or misleading information concerning Ms. Amruta Khanvilkar will be taken seriously (sic)."It added that, wherever supported by available evidence, appropriate legal action would be initiated against the individuals, entities or organisations responsible for creating, publishing, circulating or sharing such content, in accordance with applicable law. The statement further said that all such instances were being monitored and documented for appropriate legal recourse.The official legal statement shared by Khanvilkar and Malhotra said the actor's legal team would act against defamatory content concerning her personal life, with such instances being monitored from 10 August 2026 onwards. Earlier, a report by Times of India had claimed that Khanvilkar and Malhotra had been living separately for the past one year. However, this is the first time the couple has publicly reacted to the claims about their personal life.Khanvilkar met Malhotra on the sets of India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj. After a decade of dating, the couple got married on January 24, 2015, in Delhi.On the work front, Khanvilkar's last theatrical release was the courtroom drama, The Taj Story, featuring actors Paresh Rawal, Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar and Sneha Wagh in key roles.Khanvilkar has been associated with popular television reality shows such as Nach Baliye 7 (2015), Dance India Dance 6 (2017), Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 (2020), Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 (2022) and Drama Juniors (2024).The actor was also seen in a cameo appearance in director Bejoy Nambiar's survival thriller, Tu Ya Main, featuring actors Adarsh Gaurav and Shanaya Kapoor in lead roles.The 41-year-old has been part of Hindi films such as Golmaal (2006), Mumbai Salsa (2013), Phoonk (2008), Phoonk (2010) and Rangoon (2017).She was also seen in the web series – Taskaree (2026) and Space Gen: Chandrayaan (2026).- EndsPublished By: Anurag BohraPublished On: Aug 10, 2026 07:50 IST
