Actor Ajith thanks CM Vijay for motorsports push, calls it giant leap for India

Actor and racer Ajith Kumar has issued a statement on actor-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s push for motorsports, thanking him for giving attention to every discipline of sport, including motorsport, through announced government initiatives to develop infrastructure.Exclusively speaking to India Today, Ajith said that, as someone currently involved in motorsports, he viewed the move as an important step for the sport.He said, "My heartfelt thank you to the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C Joseph Vijay Avl, for giving every discipline of sports, including motorsport, the much-needed attention by announcing Tamil Nadu government's initiatives to develop infrastructure. Vijay announced plans to construct a new integrated Secretariat and Legislative Assembly complex in Chennai, with a built-up area of 20 lakh square feet at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore.The new complex will bring all state government departments together on a single administrative campus, replacing the current fragmented arrangement at Fort St George. The CM said the move was necessary to meet Tamil Nadu's administrative requirements for the next 100 years.Ajith Kumar, beyond his film career, has been an accomplished international racer. He has competed in Formula BMW Asia, British Formula 3, and the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Recently, he has launched his team, Ajith Kumar Racing, which has secured podium finishes at 24H Dubai and other endurance races.Ajith will be balancing his film and motorsports career. After his current sporting commitments, he will begin shooting for his newly launched film, Dare Devil. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran of Good Bad Ugly fame, this will mark his wife and former actor Shalini’s debut production venture.Meanwhile, Vijay's last theatrical release was director H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan.
