‘Absolute joke’ – Man Utd fans fume after finding out club are ready to sell academy graduate, 19, for just £6million

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have hit back at reports the club is only demanding a few million pounds for one of their top prospects. And many are even more perplexed by the fact the youngster plays in a position United are actively looking to strengthen this summer. Amass has impressed during pre-season and a selection of second-tier clubs are interested in signing him. The defender scored in last week’s 5-0 friendly win over Rosenborg and played 21 first-team games for Sheffield Wednesday last term, before a subsequent loan stint at Norwich was ruined by injury. Luke Shaw is United’s only natural left-back aside from Amass, with Patrick Dorgu playing further forward under boss Michael Carrick. Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui can deputise there but prefer to play on the right. Lewis Hall and Antonee Robinson are both transfer targets for United – but both would cost several times more than the £6m asking price pinned to Amass. So the teenager’s cheap valuation has not gone down well with supporters.
