Abi catches Ronnie in the act with another woman on Coronation Street

Don’t you turn Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) into a love-rat. It’s hard to imagine anyone in Weatherfield more loyal than Ronnie. He’s stood by the love of his life Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) throughout her heartbreaking battle with dementia – not to mention the constant stress caused by her scumbag son Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). The couple got married in January earlier this year, in a ceremony that was sweet, extravagant, and oh-so- Debbie. Unfortunately, the honeymoon period came to a record-scratch halt when Carl framed his mum for the Corriedale crash and gaslit her into taking the blame. This resulted in poor Debs going down for reckless driving that contributed to the death of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). Debbie and Ronnie’s nuptials were cut short by disaster. (Picture: ITV) Even though Debbie was inside, Ronnie refused to walk away. He visited her whenever he could and tried his best to persuade Carl to clear her name. When Debbie was released and her condition took a turn forthe worse, Ronnie still stayed by her side – not just as her husband, but as her care taker and friend, vowing to stand by her through every stage of the terminal illness Does this sound like a man who would do the dirty? Of course not. However, Ronnie is far from squeaky clean. He used to be entangled with old flame Fiona Morley, a criminal kingpin with a stolen car ring. When she roped Carl into her shady business,Ronnie stepped up and reluctantly agreed to ‘owe Fiona a favour’ in return for letting Carl out of the debt. This of course, was a devastating betrayal of Debbie’s trust that threatened to tear the married couple apart. Ronnie kept a secret, and her name was Fiona. With Debbie’s condition declining, she’s growing rapidly confused and disorientated. She already mistook Carl’s latest conquest for Kylie Minogue. So when she starts suspecting Ronnie of playing away, it must be in her head. Right? Right?! That’s what Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) is here to find out. When Ronnie’s behaviour razes red flags for Debs, she recruits her former sister-in-law to confirm or disprove her suspicions in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street. Already feeling like Ronnie’s treating her like a toddler at home, Debbie’s annoyed when Ronnieturns down Debbie’s offer of an afternoon lie down and instead nips out to grab them some lunch. But Debbie’s not buying it… Fearing the worst, shesummons Abi to the flat and tells her she’s convinced Ronnie’s seeing someone else and planning to put her in a care home.Will Abi buy Debbie’s theory? So when Ronnie tells Debbie he’s off to a meeting, a suspicious Debbie calls Abi and asks her to keep an eye on him.
