He said they could not show the authorising order and vowed to move the High Court.Abhishek Banerjee clashed with Kolkata Police on ThursdayAn altercation broke out between Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee and Kolkata Police officers after a team of police personnel, along with Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials, reached his Camac Street office to remove TMC billboards on Thursday.Banerjee objected to the move and asked the officials to produce a copy of the order authorising the action and the complaint letter on which it was based. He alleged that the police officers were attempting to illegally enter the office premises.The police and KMC officials later left after, according to Banerjee, they failed to show the required order copy when asked. Banerjee also alleged that the officials wanted to enter the office and asserted that he would file a case against the police officers in the High Court.Later, while speaking to the press after the incident, Banerjee accused both the KMC and the Kolkata Police of working at the behest of the ruling BJP government in Bengal. He also criticised the Suvendu Adhikari government for allegedly using government bodies for political vengeance against the opposition. "The police and the KMC officials have forgotten that they are being paid by the taxpayers' money and not by the BJP," Banerjee said while talking to journalists. He further added that they have no right to decide which political party will put up how many billboards.(Developing story.
