'Abhijieet Dipke, CJP funded by US donors': Singer Mary Millben backs PM Modi

American singer Mary Millben has alleged that US-based donors opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are funding Abhijeet Dipke and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), claiming that the money is being used to support forces seeking to disrupt governance in India. In a post on X, Millben appealed to young Indians to speak out, saying, “This is not the time to be silent.” She alleged that donors in the US opposed to PM Modi were funding individuals working against the prime minister and his leadership.Millben, known for her patriotic performances, came into the spotlight in India during the country's 75th Independence Day celebrations in 2022. In 2023, she performed India's national anthem during Modi's visit to the US.In her post, Millben claimed that certain US donors follow a pattern of targeting conservative leaders globally. She alleged that they “find an US educated person from the country, radicalize them, send them back to the country, and fund them to start chaos and destruction.”She also defended Modi's political record, saying the prime minister, who has served in public life for 25 years and as prime minister for 12 years, “is not going to bow to disruptive forces from my country.”Calling for a counter-movement, Millben urged young Indians to organise and peacefully protest against what she described as the “disruptive spirit of the Cockroach Party”. She added, “There should always be a counter movement to uphold democracy and freedom,” before concluding her appeal with, “Rise up, young patriots! Rise up!”The allegations come amid questions raised by BJP leaders over the funding of CJP and its founder, Abhijeet Dipke. BJP president Nitin Nabin accused opposition leaders and the CJP of attempting to destabilise India with foreign backing, while BJP MP Nishikant Dubey questioned the sources of funding behind Dipke.Dipke has rejected allegations of foreign funding, arguing that if overseas money had entered the CJP's activities, it would amount to a failure of the Union home ministry. He also challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to explain how foreign funding could enter the country under his watch.
